Sewing My Party Dress

An organizing list is the most important thing that my husband reminds me when I have an event coming up.
He wants me to complete them in advance and be organized, that is, no tardiness on the spot and all things should be in tact.  On the top of my list is the dress I should wear, and as we all know, once we picked the main outfit, everything will just fall in that category.

Went through my closet and looked through my dresses.  On the uppermost shelf,  I have separated dresses which are even folded and that I purchased from last year's church sale in town.
These sizes are bigger and longer, I could say, they fit for 5'8" - 5'9" women
and I am a lot shorter than that.  Since I prefered vintage dresses, the size did not matter to me
because I know I could alter them in the future.

Finally, below is the dress I picked!  It's black and its definitely longer, runs up to my toes.  But I love the embroidery and the design on the chest, so with its sleeves.  I decided to cut its hem and replaced the lace.  No lace purchases!  These laces has been sitting in my craft bag for years!
I also sewed it using my handheld sewing machine.  ( I do not own a real sewing machine - "yet").

THE FINAL TOUCH

THE MINI VINTAGE DRESS

Here we go!
What do you think?
This is what I am going to wear to the party.  If I still have time, I would like to attach some beads on the embroidered lace on the chest just like my mother used to do.  I am also thinking which shoes to pair
but I will definitely wear an over the knee high socks to go with it!

  1. Yay for refashioning! I'm very curious how it will look on you! Vintage lace is the best... and your sewing machine is cute, I didn't even know tiny sewing machines like this existed.
